Introduction to “The Department of Advertising”

The advertising major was established in 1993, the first undergraduate major in Guangxi, which also set an example for other arts college throughout the country. During its more than 20 years' development, “The Department of Advertising” gradually forms the advertising talent training characteristics: "Interdisciplinary, Creativity first, pay attention to medium, and combine theory with practice". It focuses on cultivating the students' application ability of comprehensive development in both advertising strategy and designing aesthetics, sticks to the elementary feature of creative thinking training, enhances their creativity and the whole operation ability of advertising. The department also carries out medium practical teaching, guiding students to apply various media to advertising operation. It forms a practical teaching mode with the core of CIGE(Create, Interwork, Group, Effect), and the two wings of program teaching and socializing the graduation design, which makes a great contribution to the development of advertising discipline and training excellent talents in advertising.
“The Department of Advertising” has advertising major and other four undergraduate majors: creativity designing in advertising, designing of interacting advertising, advertising planning, and media creativity. It also has three postgraduate majors: designing in modern advertising, creativity in advertising planning, study on new media arts. The advertising major has become national level characteristic major, regional level excellent major; its advertising teaching team has won the title of regional excellent teaching group.
“The Department of Advertising” mainly trains advanced applied and creative talents, working in brand communication, information and creativity communication, advertising design and production, media management, for various media, college, enterprises, public institutions, advertising agencies, design team, network company and the press.

“The Department of Language Communication” was established in 2008. The faculty members all graduated with M.A. degree from College of Broadcasting & Arts from Communication University of China, with abundant broadcasting or hosting experiences in central and provincial media, and rich teaching experience as well. In addition, the department also has many part-time professors who are distinguished experts and scholars in national broadcasting circle, and they give lectures and instructions in our college regularly.
“The Department of Language Communication” has two postgraduate majors: speech communication, and research on broadcasting & hosting arts; two undergraduate majors: broadcasting & hosting arts, and broadcasting & hosting in Chinese and English. The department has formed the relatively complete talent cultivation system: the main part is undergraduate education, and the development direction is postgraduate education. Besides, it gradually forms the characteristics of “teaching with media, practice with specialty, talents with comprehensive abilities, and educating with internationalization” in teaching activities. At the same time, the department set up the exchange programs with universities at home and abroad, with the new perspective of international education.

影視編導(dǎo)系始建于2008年，目前共有五個(gè)本科專業(yè)（方向）:廣播電視編導(dǎo)專業(yè)、廣播電視編導(dǎo)專業(yè)（中英校際合作辦學(xué)2+2）、影視攝影與制作專業(yè)、攝影專業(yè)，以及廣播電視編導(dǎo)藝術(shù)碩士專業(yè)，形成了集影視創(chuàng)意、攝錄、制作為一體的多學(xué)科交叉優(yōu)勢(shì)。

“The Department of Directing in Film & Television” was established in 2008. Currently it has five undergraduate majors(specialties): "Directing in Broadcasting, Film & Television", "Directing in Broadcasting, Film & Television"(China-Britain Interschool Exchange 2+2), “Photography and Directing in Film & Television”, “Cartoon in Film & Television”, “Photography”; one postgraduate major: “Directing Arts in Broadcasting & Television”. It forms the interdisciplinary characteristics with the combination of film & television creativity, videography, and production.

Holding the education theory of combining “production, learning, research, and application”, the department focuses on practice and tries to train the talents in directing film & television, and concentrates on creativity and follows the newest trend in film & television. By setting up the research studio of broadcasting & television arts and the research studio of video and image arts, combining modern facilities and equipment like HD studio, after producing lab, and videography, the department establishes a three-dimensional platform of promoting teaching by needs, promoting research by teaching, and promoting creativity by research.

The department is oriented to market and social needs, and serves for news and advertising bureaus in government, various cultural departments, radio and TV stations, film and television production company, cultural media and communication company, advertising company and other enterprises, public institutions, by training advanced interdisciplinary creative talents, who will work in writing, editing, directing, planning, creativity, photography, production, advertising and filmmaking.

“The Department of Performing” was established in 2008. The faculties all graduated from the key art colleges nationwide, with abundant working or teaching experiences in drama, film and television. Besides, the department also has many part-time professors who are distinguished experts and scholars in famous theatres, film and television business around the country; they give lectures and instructions in our college regularly.
The major of performing was elected as the characteristic majors of Guangxi Autonomous Region in 2011. The department has two postgraduate majors: creative writing & research on drama performing, and creative writing & research on film, television performing; one undergraduate major: performing. It has formed the relatively complete talent cultivation system: the main part is undergraduate education, and the development direction is postgraduate education.
The department mainly provides creative applied talents who will work in performing, planning, organizing, creative writing of stage, film and television, for social literature and arts groups, arts colleges, arts exhibitions, radio station, TV station, film & television company, performing arts institutions, mass arts and other fields.

“The Department of Literature in Drama, Film & Television” was established in 2011. It has one undergraduate major, one academic postgraduate major and one arts postgraduate major, all with the name of literature in drama, film & television. Now, the department has five teachers: one with post doctoral degree, one with PhD degree and three with M.A degree. They respectively graduated from Communication University of China, Shanghai Theatre Academy, Southeast University, China Academy of Arts and other key colleges and research institutions. The teaching group has balanced backgrounds, rich experience in practice, and excellent research ability. “College of Film, Television & media” was established in 2007, first named “College of Film & Television”, then officially renamed “College of Film, Television & media” in April, 2010. Seven departments are set up under the college: “Advertising”, “Directing in Film & Television”, “Language Communication”, “Art Designing in Drama, Film & Television”, “Performing”, “Literature in Drama, Film & Television，Radio & Television”. With the purpose of “Comprehensive improvement in one major and several specialties”, the College grasps the trend of contemporary era, sticks to the principle of “combining arts with technology, and theory with practice”, develops a new concept of education, and achieves the interaction, cooperation, and integration among different disciplines. The College focuses on cultivating students’ humanity and comprehensive quality, as well as their professional skills and communication ability. By committing it to satisfying the social need while leading the aesthetic direction of communication arts, the College conducts research on the content and form, as well as the application of high-tech of film, television and media.
College of Film, Television & Media has formed the relatively complete talent cultivation system: the main part is undergraduate education, and the development trend is postgraduate education. Postgraduate education covers “Journalism & Communication”,“Drama and Film Studies”, and other fieldsin drama, broadcasting and television etc.Moreover,“Journalism & Communication”is authorized to cultivate the postgraduates in 2014.At present the college has set up nine undergraduate majors: “Advertising”, “Directing in Broadcasting & Television”, “Broadcasting & Hosting Arts”, “Performing”, “Artistic Design of Drama and Movie”, “Photography”, “Photography and Directing in Film & Television”, “Literature in Drama, Film & Television，“ Radio & Television””; In addition, the College has cooperated with the Britain in setting up two specialties: "Directing in Broadcasting, Film & Television"(China-Britain Interschool Exchange 2+2), and "Broadcasting & Hosting Arts"(China-Britain Interschool Exchange 2+2).
The College has one national level teaching practice base, one national level characteristic specialty, two regional level key Humanity & Social Sciences Study Bases: “China-ASEAN Media & Arts Research Center ”, and “China-ASEAN Chinese Language Research Center”; it also has three regional level excellent characteristic majors, one regional level excellent teaching group, two College-level excellent teaching groups. All the teachers and students will inherit the fine tradition and advance education theory, forge ahead and exert ourselves together, with the aim of developing our College into a talent training base of film, television and media, and a position for scientific research and creation, which is “based on Guangxi, cruising along with other university nationwide, and influencing Southeast Asia”, and has highlighted advantages, distinct characteristics, as well as relatively complete disciplines.
