Introduction for School of Political Science and Public Administration

 

School of Political Science and Public Administration (SPSPA), composed of the Public Administration subject and Politics subject. There are an Educational Centre of MPA and 3 departments in the School, including Department of Administration, Department of Public Utilities, Department of Land Resources and City Administration. Four research institutes are found in the School: Center for Political Development and Public Governance, Center for Scientific Socialism, Center for International Politics and Public Policy and Center for Local Government and Social Governance. The School possesses one program for doctor’s degree in Political Science, one program for MPA, and 2 programs for master’s degree in Public Administration and Politics. In addition, the School has 4 bachelor’s degree programs, including Administrative Science, Public Utilities Administration, Land Resource Administration, and City Administration.

 

    The faculty of the School is well-structured and creative. The total number of faculty are 41. There are 33 full-time teachers, including 7 professors and 13 associate professors. 90 percent of them have doctoral degrees. Several of them have received top achievements and rewards, such as the Supporting Program of New Century for High Education of Fujian Province, the Supporting Program of Outstanding Young Scholars of Fujian Province and the Leader of Social Science Study of Quanzhou City. Meanwhile, more than 10 Minjiang Chair Professors, Honorary professors, Adjunct Professors and Guest Professors have joined us. 

 

    The faculty has achieved great success in scientific research and social services over these years. We also have undertaken a large number of national, provincial and ministerial social science programs, as well as many other cooperated projects. Many papers and monographs have been published in important academic journals domestic and abroad, and around 20 academic monographs were also published. Many research articles and works got rewards and became influence in the related academic field.

 

SPSPA always emphasizes the combination of education with research and practice at all levels from undergraduate to doctoral programs. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular practices. During the development over the past seventy years, SPSPA has been maintaining the distinctive features and advantages in the aspects of personnel training, scientific research, theoretical innovation and creative practice. Students' comprehensive abilities have been gradually increased.

 

The School is always committed to the communication and collaboration with counterparts domestic and abroad. We also devote to build and enhance the international presence of the School. Therefore, we have invited several famous experts and scholars domestic and aboard in related fields to give lecture. Our faculty also participated in the relevant academic conferences actively. We have signed several bilateral agreements and established academic cooperation with several overseas universities and educational institutions.
